LIFE TRAINING Valley View Community Church is for people who are seeking meaning and purpose in life. The church exists to be a biblical community that helps people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who make a difference in this world. Jesus Christ came to give us life...a life full of meaning and purpose. In John 10:10 Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. To fully enjoy the life that Jesus came to give us Valley View offers the following training courses. Each course is designed to help us grow in our relationship with God and to better equip us for life. Courses are offered as either Saturday seminars, Sunday workshops from 9:00-10:15 a.m., or weeknight small groups. For some courses there may be a nominal fee to cover materials. To find out which course is currently being offered please refer to the latest Events & Opportunities handout. CHRISTIANITY 101 Learn how to build your faith on a solid foundation. Christianity 101 will introduce you to the basics of the Christian life. Discover what the Bible has to say about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, angels, Satan, humankind, salvation, the church and the future. An excellent choice for those just investigating the Christian faith, new believers in Christ, or mature Christians who want to get back to the basics. DISCOVER YOUR DIVINE DESIGN If you would like to grow in your understanding of whom God made you to be then this course is for you. Discover your own unique God given temperament, spiritual gifts and spiritual passions. In this interactive course you will gain a better awareness of yourself and a greater appreciation of others. Find out what you do best and where you best fit in the Body of Christ. BECOMING A CONTAGIOUS CHRISTIAN Discover how to confidently and effectively share your faith in Christ with others. Through a variety of formats including video vignettes, group discussions, role playing and teaching segments you’ll learn how to build relationships, share your story, tell God’s story, answer tough questions and lead someone to Jesus Christ. GROWING AS THE PEOPLE OF GOD The church is a community of people, connected to Jesus Christ and to one another. In this course you will learn what it means to be a vital part of that community. A primary component of biblical community is the small group. Through teaching and discussion discover how the small group provides a “greenhouse effect” that helps us all grow as the people of God. CULTIVATING LEADERSHIP This practical training course is for those interested in learning more about small group leadership. Discover the biblical portrait of a leader, how to grow as a leader, how to form a small group, how to guide small group gatherings, how to shepherd small group members and how to lead for the long haul. This course does not commit you to leading a small group, but can help prepare you to do so. GOOD MINISTRY You don’t have to be a CPA to manage your money effectively. During this interactive course you will explore what the Bible says about making money, saving money, eliminating debt, and managing the resources God has given you. Whether you’re deep in debt, living paycheck to paycheck, or doing well this course is for you. BIRD’S EYE VIEW OF THE BIBLE The Bible is the world’s number one bestseller, read by more people than any other book. This overview of both the Old and New Testaments provides an excellent foundation for Bible study. Through this course you will get a better handle on the truth that God has revealed, experience the life-changing power of God’s Word, and develop a comfort zone for your own personal Bible reading.
