Every year at this time the parking lot at the YMCA, where I swim, is packed out. It’s hard to find a parking place. The lot is filled with people that the Y sometimes refers to as “resolutionists,” not revolutionists, but “resolutionists.”
This morning I want to talk about baptism, water baptism. And I want to urge you to be baptized if you’ve never been baptized before. But before we talk about baptism, I want to talk about water because baptism takes place in water.
Today is Pentecost Sunday, that means it’s the seventh Sunday after Easter if you’re counting, and churches around the world are celebrating the arrival of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the church today.
This is Fourth of July weekend and this past week has been Freedom Week in Philadelphia. All over the region there have been concerts and parades and fireworks all celebrating the freedom that we cherish.
We’re in the middle of wedding season right now and last night we celebrated with Kristen Johnson and Zachary Young as they were married at beautiful Brandywine Manor in Honey Brook. It was a great night!
