ONE ON ONE WITH JESUS

If you could go one on one with Jesus this is what he’d like to tell you. First, he would tell you who he is. He is the Son of God, 100% human and 100% God. When the angel told Mary that God would use her to deliver a divine child into the world, he declared that the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35).

Second, he would tell you what he did. He came to be your Savior. At his birth the angels announced today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you who is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11). Thirty-three years after his birth Jesus took our place on the cross and died as our substitute, taking the punishment for our sins on himself. His death paid the price to a holy God that our sin demanded.

Third, he would tell you why he did it. Jesus loves you and he died to give you eternal life which he offers as a free gift. Whether we’re a criminal or a good moral person, we must trust in Jesus Christ alone as the only way to heaven. Jesus said that he who believes in me has eternal life (John 6:47).

And finally, he would want you to know what he’s asking. He’s asking you to receive him as your Savior. Jesus wants to be your Forgiver and Leader through life. The apostle John wrote, Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

How about it? Have you received God’s gift of eternal life? If you’d like to, here’s how you can. Simply tell God in the words of this prayer.

Dear God, I come to you now admitting I am a sinner. Nothing I am or do makes me deserving of heaven. I believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for me on the cross and rose again. Right now I place my trust in Jesus Christ as my Forgiver and Leader through life. He is the only way to heaven. Thank you for the free gift of eternal life I have just received. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior let me suggest you do two things.

First, commit to memory the words of Jesus in John 5:24, I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life.
